I have in the past participated in healing groups but am not a member of any of the regulatory bodies which exist, as I only use my healing abilities in conjunction with my other training and practices. Although I consider that healing powers are a gift rather than something you are taught to do, I think there is a certain initiatory aspect to being able to use them.
During the 60's I was approached by several different psychics and told I was a healer, at the time I was more of a seeker than a healer, looking for answers to my own problems and looking for the meaning of life instead of embellishing my life with a bit of meaning. Sadly I have long since forgotten the name of the healer who picked me out of an audience of the Festival of ind Body and Spirit in London and asked me to come and heal with him on stage. I helped him rather half heartedly, I had just had a cancer tumour removed from my breast and was worried that my vibrations wouldn't be all that good. After everybody had gone the healer gave me some healing, he asked me if I had ever had any psychic experiences and whilst he was giving me healing I described them to him. He then told me that when I spent a penny the next time it would be a different colour and smell since I would be getting rid of toxins. It was just as he said...and now I notice that most of the people I see need to dash off and spend a penny after their sessions with me.
It took me many years to overcome the self-pity that enmeshed me at that time and replace it with some compassion and wisdom, but I thank those people whose gifts allowed them to encourage me to see the whole picture.
Around that epoch I also had several Kirlian Photographs done, again the people rushed out with encouragement...did I know I was a healer ? Things like that help to confirm one's own intuition and instinct.
When someone needs some healing my hands tend to "buzz" a bit. I'm glad I'm a therapist, it means I can always give healing when I want to as part of my therapy package.
I think there is a hereditary element to my healing ability as there have been doctors in my family since the eleventh century or earlier, they started off as Magicians and Physicians to the Irish Kings and Magician Kings. The healing ability seems to be linked to psychic powers generally -I read Tarot and tea-leaves,my Mother could table-rap on her own, my Daughter reads palms and tarot and my son makes websites (including this one !!).
